Visitor Requirements
Visiting an Jacobson Elementary requires adherence to specific security protocols, visual standards, and behavioral expectations to ensure a safe and focused environment for students.
Check-in & Identification
Government-issued ID required: You must present a valid, physical driver's license or state-issued photo ID upon entry. Digital IDs, photos of IDs on a phone, or secondary cards (e.g., work badges, student IDs) are not accepted. Visitor management scanning: Your physical ID will be scanned through the school’s security system to check against national databases and generate a date-stamped visitor badge. Badge visibility: Wear the printed visitor badge on your upper chest at all times while on campus. Badges must remain clearly visible until you check out at the main office upon departure.
Dress Code
Modest and neat attire: Dress in clean, appropriate clothing that aligns with a professional environment. Prohibited graphics and text: Clothing featuring profane language, sexual references, violent imagery, or advertisements for alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances is strictly forbidden. Footwear: Wear footwear suitable for a school setting. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended, especially if accessing playgrounds, gymnasiums, or outdoor field areas.
Adult Visitor Conduct & Expectations
Classroom non-disruption: Maintain a low volume in hallways and common areas. Keep cell phones on silent or vibrate, and step outside the building to take necessary calls. Student interactions: Engage with students only as authorized by school staff. Respect personal boundaries; physical contact should be kept to high-fives or handshakes. Directing discipline to staff: Adults must never discipline, reprimand, or confront a student. Any behavior issues must be reported directly to a teacher or administrator immediately. Strict privacy policy: Photography, audio recording, and video recording of students or classrooms are strictly prohibited to protect student privacy rights. Restricted access: Remain exclusively in the specific area designated for your visit (e.g., the front office, assigned classroom, or cafeteria). Do not wander into unauthorized wings, teacher lounges, or playgrounds without staff escort.
